High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
The High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) is designed to put you, the employee, in the driver’s seat. You have affordable coverage in the form of low premiums, protection from catastrophic expenses, and the flexibility to choose how to spend – or save – your money along the way.
Paired with a tax-free Health Savings Account, this plan can offer many long-term financial benefits for those who are willing to take an active role in managing their health care experience. And Inframark provides you with an array of tools and resources to support you in your health care decisions. Although this is certainly true of all health plans, the HDHP in particular requires you to take an active role in managing your health and your expenses because of your higher out-of-pocket financial responsibility for all expenses from the first dollar. The HDHP works largely the same as the traditional PPO plans, but with one very important difference:
- All covered medical and prescription drug expenses (except preventive care) are subject to the plan’s deductible and coinsurance. There are no fixed co-pays for things such as office visits or prescriptions drugs. So you pay the full cost for all services until you have met the deductible and your share of the coinsurance.
